About Me

Ciao tutti! Hamjambo! Ni Hǎo!
Hi, I'm Kai, a junior Honors student at Howard University studying International Affairs with a minor in Swahili, and a DC native with a serious case of wanderlust.
My love for languages started somewhere over the Atlantic. During my junior year of high school, I spent a year studying abroad in Italy, fully immersed in the language and culture. That experience didn't just teach me Italian — it rewired how I see the world. I came home with a hunger for more, and went on to study Mandarin through high school. Now in college, I've added Swahili to the mix, chasing fluency one language at a time.
For me, travel has never just been about seeing new places, it's about the moments when a new language or culture clicks, and suddenly somewhere foreign starts to feel like home. Fly with Kai is where I document all of it and I hope you enjoy.
What this blog will include: I am making this blog in order to keep my family and friends back at home updated on my experience whenever I am out of the country. I am also making this to share my struggles and accomplishments, as well as all the new things I will be experiencing here across the world. This blog is to show people that they can do this as well. I'm showing them that sometimes things get hard but showing how I get through those hard times.
