On the bus...

The amount of emotions going through my head. Anxiousness. Excitement. Joy. Sadness. All these emotions just bottled up with me on the bus on the way to my host family. I was blasting music in my heart hopefully to ignore the sound of my heart beating out of my chest, but I promise you Tame Impala was not loud enough.

First impression

I arrived at my stop and I could see through the window my family standing there with excitement on their faces. I was greeted with many “Ciao(s)!” and kisses on both sides of my cheeks. Then Silvia, my Italian corresponder, started talking Italian to me. Not that I didn't know what she was saying, honestly I'm not sure what she was saying because her accent was very very thick. But luckily Sara, one of my Intercultura liaisons translated for me in English and I responded. Anyway, I departed with my host family and I sat in the back with my two host sisters Sara and Sofia. Funny moment was when they asked if I had cats back in DC and I answered in Italian. Again I was nervous, so I answered saying I have “two f**k”. I'm sorry for the profanity, but the F word and cat in Italian are kinda similar and at that time I didnt even know the F word in Italian but Sara and Sofia laughed and told me what I said and all was good. It was late so we had pizza for dinner with my host mom's brother and his family and I went to bed.
